SK Telecom intended to attract users to support the virtual meeting platform through regular meetings between K-pop idols and fans in the future.

SK Telecom Giant announced to launch of the “virtual meeting platform” in 49 countries by the end of this year in order to join the trend of the metaverse (virtual universe) that is "storming" the market worldwide.

The platform was first introduced for Android devices and will then be open to iOS and other VR ones. The company has adopted a more intuitive user interface (UI) to let people enjoy Metaverse more simply and easily.

With the goal of developing Ifland into a leading metaverse platform by engaging millennials and GenZ users, SKT has designed the platform to be as simple as possible. In addition, Ifland partnered with two multinational companies, E& and Singapore's Singtel telecommunications group.

“Going forward, Ifland plans to continue its growth by opening up the platform to partners, introducing its own economic system, and expanding into overseas markets,” the company leaders outlined.

According to the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), as of 2021, Metaverse's user network accounts for 47 percent of all mobile users in South Korea.
